About

Welcome! I'm Kaley! I was raised in Alabama and am a New Yorker at heart after spending five marvelous years living in the City. During my time in NYC, I graduated from law school, passed the New York Bar, practiced real estate and banking law, and met the love of my life. Jason and I moved from NYC to North Carolina for Jason's new job as legal counsel for Volvo Financial Services. I have also made the transition from law firm to in-house and am general counsel of ClaroLux, LLC, which leaves me plenty of time to volunteer with several charitable and nonprofit organizations.

When I'm not working, I enjoy playing tennis, playing video games, cooking, eating and drinking, traveling, and spending time with Jason and our girls. Jason is always my playmate, best friend, biggest challenger and supporter, and brings me so much joy, happiness, and laughter. We love going to sporting, music, food, drink, and cultural events together, and experiencing new places together. When we're not doing one of the aforementioned, we're likely snuggled up on the couch in a "puppy pile" with the girls.

Annabelle and Layla

Jason and I are lucky to have the two best dogs in the world, and often forget they are not our human children. Annabelle is a yorkie-poo, and I got her shortly after I moved to New York. She loves playing with anything she deems a toy, including throw pillows, blankets, hand towels, and anything else she can find around the house. She has us wrapped around her little paw, is the sweetest but most strong-willed pup. Her best tricks are "sit like a bunny" (used mainly to get treats and people food), "go to your place", "find your toy", "snuggle", and "belly rubs". (There's a definite trend of her only listening to commands that benefit her....). Layla is a staffordshire terrier-hound mix that Jason rescued from a shelter in Harlem shortly before we started dating. She is the gentlest, sweetest, and laziest yet most energetic dog. When she's not literally running in circles in the house or dragging us down the street when out for walks, she will be found sleeping in whatever sunny spot she can find and on top of the largest pile of pillows and blankets. Her best tricks are "sit", "down", "high five", "slow", "gentle", and "belly rubs". She has never met a stranger and gives huge kisses. They are truly the lights of our lives, and the best part of our days.

Creation of Vino Ipso Loquitur:
I started this blog from the idea of having somewhere to keep and share all of my mom's and grandmother's recipes. It's continued to grow and be a place where I share recipes, wine, restaurants, events, and travel. The name Vino Ipsa Loquitur is a play on the legal term "res ipsa loquitur" (meaning the thing speaks for itself) which incorporates dorky attorney side and my love for wine, which I drink by itself and with meals, and use in recipes.

My life goal is to always get the most out of every experience and enjoy the people who experience it with me. I'm very fortunate to have the most amazing family and friends who fill my heart and life and share it all with me. I hope you enjoy all that I share with you!
